Turkey Vulture

We went for a ride on the Can-Am and noticed an amazing looking bird. As we don’t know much about wildlife here still, we didn’t know if it was some breed of hawk or eagle. It had a huge wingspan and a red head and perched on top of this tree for a LONG time!

We thought about it later and I thought it may have been a vulture. Sure enough, it was! It was a turkey vulture, known as such due to the similarity of the red heads that you find in wild turkeys.

It’s pretty adorable this time of year, we frequently see groups of turkeys with their little chicks crossing the road. I love them and I don’t see Thanksgiving any more when I see them.
